The Garvey Edge | Six Sigma

Six Sigmasigma

Six Sigma™ was developed in the early 1990s at Motorola and is a continuous quality improvement strategy that seeks to identify and eliminate the causes of defects in any process—from manufacturing and transactional to products and services. In broad terms, Six Sigma™ simply means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. It aims to reduce costs and improve quality.

The objective of the Six Sigma™ methodology is the implementation of a measurement-based strategy that focuses on process improvement and variation reduction through the application of Six Sigma™ improvement projects. This is accomplished using two Six Sigma sub-methodologies: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control (or “DMAIC”) which is used for projects aimed at improving an existing business process; and Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, Verify (or “DMADV”) used for projects aimed at creating new product or process designs. Both quality management functions are executed by Six Sigma™ Green Belts and Six Sigma Black Belts, and are overseen by Six Sigma™ Master Black Belts.

The Garvey Group has had a full-time Six Sigma™ Master Black Belt on staff for over 5 years, whose sole task is to oversee and implement Six Sigma process improvement procedures on all Garvey Group operations. This level of commitment emphasizes the importance of quality and customer satisfaction.
